In public spaces, conversation is an endless churning wave. It can easily become white noise to the average ear. In Passing explores the fleeting snippets of conversation that one can catch while passing through a public space.

This hand-bound book holds a collection of overheard quotes found specifically in the town of New Paltz. These stolen quotes have been organized by time and location As you progress through each chapter, the quotes will move later through the day and week. Specific dates of quotes are not shown in order to keep some sense of ambiguity for the speaker. Each chapter opens to a brief description of that location followed by a hand lettered quote chosen from that part of New Paltz.
