Memento Mori
Bridget deluca
The idea that we will all die someday is often brushed under the rug, which instills, early on, the fear of our inevitable mortality. This project illustrates a modern interpretation of the term ‘Memento Mori.’ This book provides information and visualizations about death in various cultures, illustrates some comforting, but lesser known, symbols of death, and promotes contemplation, reflection and meaningful conversations about our mortality and how being aware of it can lead to a better life. Talking about death helps us realize that it’s a natural part of life and should be dealt with more openly. Through making content that allows for reflection about such a difficult subject, this modern Memento Mori will allow people to obtain a newfound appreciation of life.
